The day has finally arrived: My new book Hyperscale is now on bookshelves in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and beyond!
It tells the story of the data center buildout the tech industry has embarked on in recent years, what it’s cost communities on the frontlines in many different parts of the world, and why we can — and must — demand a better future than the one Sam Altman and Elon Musk are trying to force on us.
When I set off on the adventure of putting this book together two years ago, I figured data centers were going to become a bigger story. But it was impossible to guess my book when come out when the data center backlash would be reaching its fever pitch — and confidence in the AI project might be started to waver.
I’m not just saying this because it’s my book, but it’s truly one that meets the moment it’s arriving in, among so many other great books taking on the power of tech billionaires that have come out in the past couple months.
If you haven’t already picked up a copy, you should grab one from Bookshop in the US or the UK, go to your local bookstore, or visit the book’s website for more purchasing options.
I would be remiss not to mention that I’m also going on the road, so you should come see me if I’m coming through your city. I’ll actually be doing a small launch in New York City this evening, followed by Montreal on Friday, London on Monday and Wednesday, then Bristol later in the week.
I’m not going to link to them all, but over the next couple months I’ll be in Boston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles in the United States, along with Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton in Canada. I’ll be headed to Europe in December too, and I’ll have more information on which cities soon. Information on all events, along with RSVP links, will be added to my personal website as it becomes available, so check there for more!
It’s surreal to think Hyperscale is finally out there after all the work I put into it. I sincerely hope you enjoy it and learn from it. This certainly won’t be the last you’ll be hearing from me about data centers. (There’s plenty of media to come, for one thing!)
Thanks for your continued support, and I hope you get the chance to read Hyperscale soon!
