In my update over the summer, I had to make an admission: I’d only read eight books so far during the year — well behind my goal. Over the past three months, I’m happy to say I’ve made some progress. My tally has risen to eighteen, with more to come by the end of the year. I hope you’ve added some to your list too. Maybe some of the books in this update will join them.

Typically when I put together these seasonal lists, I break down the forthcoming books by month to give you a few picks for each of the months ahead. Well, that didn’t work this time around. I was hard pressed to find many options in November and December, but there are a flood of books worth a look coming in October. So if you like more than one, you’ll just have to spread them out over the rest of the year.
